Market presssure intensified toward week-end as investors repositioned during the implementation of the MSCI May 2026 Quarterly Index Review, with significant adjustments to index constituent weightings triggering heightened selling activity. As a result, the PSEi ended the week at a six-month low, with passive- fund flows and continued foreign selling weighing heavily on market performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PSE outlook this week<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The local bourse is expected to trade sideways with an upward bias as the market rebounds from last week\u2019s sharp decline, driven largely by MSCI-related flows and portfolio adjustments. Bargain hunting may emerge at the start of the week, particularly among oversold PSEi heavyweights, as investors seek to capitalise on more attractive valuations following the recent sell-off. However, sentiment is likely to remain cautious amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with concerns surrounding the US-Iran conflict and continued disruptions to regional trade routes weighing on risk appetite. Toward week\u2010end, market sentiment may soften further ahead of the release of May inflation data, particularly if the print comes in above consensus. A higher-than-expected reading could dampen expectations of further monetary easing, potentially fueling continued foreign outflows and limiting upside for the broader market. Our DBS economist expects May 2026 inflation to print at 8.3%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stock Picks this week<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Global Ferronickel Holdings, Inc. Mining revenues grew to 36.4% y\/y to PHP1.21bn, underpinned by uptick in shipment volume and higher nickel ore prices. FNI also benefitted from a stronger US dollar versus the Philippine peso, with the average realised exchange rate at PHP59.04, providing an additional lift to earnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Accumulate FNI once it pulls back to PHP2.20 to maximise gains. This led net income to turn positive to PHP645mn, reversing a net loss in 1Q25. AT is well positioned to benefit from elevated copper prices as it operates the Toledo copper mine in Cebu, one of the Philippines\u2019 largest producing copper mines and a key contributor to domestic output.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Accumulate AT once it pulls back to PHP9.20 to maximise gains. Take profits at PHP10.12 and set stop loss limits below PHP8.74.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.\u00a0Century Pacific Food, Inc. (CNPF)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Recommendation<\/strong><\/td><td>Buy on breakout<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>1-Year Target Price<\/strong><\/td><td>PHP 41.00<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CNPF delivered solid volume growth in 1Q26 despite higher input costs, reflecting resilient demand for its Branded business. With fuel prices and inflation remaining elevated, consumers are likely to stay price-conscious, supporting demand for consumer staples such as canned fish and meat, which are CNPF&#8217;s core products. The company\u2019s OEM export business, which accounts for 22% of total sales in 1Q26, further supports earnings while providing a natural hedge through its exposure to dollar-denominated revenues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Accumulating CNPF once it breaks out of its downtrend channel around PHP30.20 is advisable.
