Higher one-time costs dragged the first-semester earnings of Union Bank of the Philippines (UBP) by 35 percent to P3.3 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Aboitiz-led bank disclosed to the stock exchange on Monday its topline during the period had climbed by 9.2 percent to P39.7 billion on the back of higher net interest income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latter increased mostly due to growth in UnionBank\u2019s credit card and personal loan portfolio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, higher costs associated with improving its operational and financial resiliency resulted in lower earnings for UnionBank.
\u201cAs we continue our efforts to grow our customer base, we are also ensuring we enhance operational resilience to be able to deliver our desired customer experience,\u201d UnionBank president and CEO Ana Aboitiz Delgado said in their disclosure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
