MPower, a local power retailer under Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), has strengthened its decade-long ties with the Gokongwei Group through an expanded power supply deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the renewed contract, MPower will continue to energize the Gokongwei family\u2019s major facilities across Luzon, providing them with reliable electricity and competitive rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deal covers key JG Summit companies including Cebu Pacific, Universal Robina Corp., JG Summit Olefins Corp., Robinsons Land Corp. and RL Commercial REIT Inc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also included in the expanded agreement is Robinsons Supermarket Corp., the supermarket chain under multi-format retailer Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis agreement goes beyond securing a reliable power supply \u2014 it represents our collective commitment to sustainability and innovation,\u201d JG Summit president and CEO Lance Gokongwei said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership with MPower, he said, would enable the Gokongwei Group to \u201cintegrate a 60-percent renewable energy solution into our operations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a meaningful step forward in our journey to reduce our environmental impact while continuing to serve Filipino communities through our businesses,\u201d Gokongwei said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The long-standing ties between the Meralco Group and the Gokongwei family date back to 2013, when MPower first started supplying electricity to flagship companies under JG Summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After more than a decade, Meralco chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan said the two groups continue to share a \u201cdeep commitment to nation-building, innovation and service to the Filipino people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThrough all the changes, one conviction has remained constant: that companies like ours must do more than generate value \u2014 we must create impact,\u201d Pangilinan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis partnership with JG Summit Holdings, through MPower, reflects that shared purpose as we work together to empower communities and contribute to a stronger, more sustainable Philippines,\u201d Pangilinan added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
