Despite a tepid start, the market managed to end the week in the green after the US announced that a trade deal with China had been made. The agreement included the reduction of tariffs on Chinese goods to 55% from an initial 145%, while China slashed levies on US imports to 10% and pledged to ease barriers on key mineral exports. Meanwhile, the below forecast US CPI print of 2.4% (est. 2.5%) also added fuel to risk-on sentiment.

PSE outlook this week

This week, investors will likely maintain a risk-off stance as they closely monitor the escalating war in the Middle East. Oil is set to surge higher following the bombing of a major oil facility in Iran, which could reignite inflation fears and influence the policy meetings later this week. The Fed and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will decide on Thursday the direction of their benchmark interest rates. The Fed is forecasted to keep rates unchanged as it continues to weigh global trade uncertainties as well as the impact of tariffs. Locally, the BSP is widely expected to cut rates by 25bps following the weaker-than-expected 1Q25 PH GDP print and below-target inflation in the last three months. However, the central bank will have to consider the implications of the recent events in the Middle East on long-term inflation, which could derail expectations and lead to further upward pressure. This is especially notable as local pump prices are anticipated to rise over the next few weeks, with diesel, gasoline, and kerosene increasing by PHP0.90/PHP1.40, PHP1.00/PHP1.40, and PHP1.20/PHP1.40, respectively, this week.

Stock Picks this week

1. Universal Robina Corp. (URC)

Recommendation

Buy on pullback

1-Year Target Price

PHP 90.00

URC is currently trading below its 20-day moving average (MA) and above its 23.60% Fibonacci retracement level. In
PSEi Top Gainers / Losers terms of momentum indicators, RSI is still at neutral territory but seems poised to continue its decline. Additionally, the MACD line appears to stay below the signal line for now. A pullback near the 50-day MA or at the 38.20% retracement level is advisable.

We recommend accumulating URC once it pulls back to the 38.20% Fibonacci retracement level at PHP79.75. Take profits at PHP91.00 and set stop loss limits below PHP73.40.

2. DoubleDragon Corp. (DD)

Recommendation

Buy

1-Year Target Price

No consensus Target Price

DD has increased by 42.52% since the start of the month, now trading above all key moving averages (MAs) (20-day, 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day), indicating strong bullish momentum. Technical indicators also support the trend, with the MACD hovering above the signal line, while the RSI is at overbought levels. This suggests investor interest in DD remains elevated, and the stock may continue to rise in the near term.

Accumulating DD at current levels is advisable. Take profit around 16.65 and set stop loss limit at PHP13.32.

3. Bloomberry Resorts Corp. (BLOOM)

Recommendation

Buy on pullback

1-Year Target Price

PHP 7.31

BLOOM has regained momentum after experiencing heavy selling pressure from speculation over its potential removal from the PSEi in the August 2025 rebalancing. Since late April, it has been on an uptrend with strong volume. The 50-day moving average (MA) recently crossed above the 100-day MA, while the 20-day MA is poised to cross the 200-day MA if momentum holds. Still, we would prefer to be cautious, as excessive bullish sentiment may signal overextension, with momentum indicators at overbought levels potentially indicating a price correction. Hence, we recommend accumulating on price retracements.

Accumulating BLOOM once it pulls back near the 50-day MA around PHP5.50/5.30 is advised. Take profits at PHP6.32 and set stop loss limits at PHP5.06.

This report is prepared by PinoyInvestor’s partner broker below.
