Puregold Price Club, Inc (PGOLD)\u2019s net income rose by +4.5% year-on-year (y\/y) amounting to P6.91 billion in 9-months (9M) 2024, which could be supported by its upbeat topline which soared by +9.10% y\/y to P151.98 billion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The good earnings performance mainly stemmed to the retail giant\u2019s aggressive store network expansion with full operation of 2023 new stores (37 PGOLD stores; 4 S&R Warehouses), and fresh contribution from 2024 newly opened stores (19 PGOLD stores; 3 S&R Warehouses) PGOLD continued expanding its store network in 9M24, allocating P6.2 billion to build 30 Puregold stores, 4 S&R warehouses, and 6 S&R QSRs by year-end, with 25 stores already opened. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The acquisition of 153 Puremart stores for P567.5 million strengthens its presence in key regions, catering to convenience-driven consumers while enhancing operational efficiency. This expansion reinforces its competitive edge through economies of scale and diverse retail formats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, PGOLD\u2019s sustained network growth and strategic acquisitions are expected to drive long-term profitability and market leadership. Consumer spending in 2024 remained stable but grew at a slower pace, with HFCE averaging 4.8% for the year. Consumer confidence improved in Q4, as the CI rose to -11.1% from -15.6% in Q3, reflecting optimism about income and job opportunities, though sentiment has yet to return to pre-pandemic positive levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a broader scale, BMI maintains a bullish consumer outlook, projecting real household spending growth from 5.0% in 2024 to 5.3% in 2025, reaching PHP13.2 trillion.
