The country’s October unemployment rate dropped to its lowest level since April 2005 at 4.2%. This was a sharp decline from its July figure of 4.8% and 4.5% in the same period last year. The number of unemployed individuals decreased by 7.9% from July to 2.09 million individuals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The country’s underemployment rate also decreased to 11.7%, with 5.60 million underemployed individuals. The labor force participation rate was 63.9%, slightly lower than the same period last year. Average weekly hours worked were 41.2, higher than October 2022. The services sector dominated employment at 60.1%, followed by agriculture (22.2%) and industry (17.8%). Sub-sectors with highest annual increases were accommodation and food service, administrative and support services, transportation and storage.
