Despite the negative outlook, Moody’s retained China’s “A1” long-term rating on sovereign bonds. Moody’s emphasizes the need for reforms to induce more consumption and higher value-added production. China’s post-pandemic recovery has been hampered by weak consumer and business confidence. This has been exacerbated by the persistent weakness in the Chinese property market. The property market remains in the doldrums as some developers owe hundreds of billions of
