The Philippines saw its August Value of Production Index (VaPI) for manufacturing grow by 9.1%. This surpassed the previous month’s 4.9% growth and was outpaced by the 12.3% growth recorded in August 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This growth was driven by a smaller annual decline in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products. Meanwhile, the Volume of Production Index (VoPI) also improved with an annual growth rate of 8.5% in August 2023, surpassing the previous month’s 4.9% rate and exceeding the 4.6% growth recorded in August 2022. The Value of Net Sales Index (VaNSI) recorded a slower annual decline of 1.2% in August 2023 compared to a 4.3% decline in the previous month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Simultaneously, the Volume of Net Sales Index (VoNSI) displayed a slower year-on-year decrease of 1.7% in August 2023 compared to a 4.4% annual decline in July 2023. The manufacturing sector’s Average Capacity Utilization Rate increased slightly to 73.9% in August 2023, with all industry divisions reporting rates exceeding 50%, notably led by machinery and equipment manufacturing at 80.3%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
