GT Capital Holdings Inc. (GTCAP), one of the country\u2019s biggest conglomerates, will vie for a higher stake in Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPI) if the opportunity arises, according to its vice chairman Alfred Ty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Analysis and Recommendation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While still uncertain, this could be in step of MPI\u2019s rumored delisting plans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Mitsui, a Japanese conglomerate, is reportedly eyeing to secure a 20% stake in MPI, GTCAP\u2019s expansion of its current stake of 15.6% in MPI is likely to exhaust the remaining free float of the company afterwards (current free-float stands at 37.45%). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delisting or even the entry of a strategic investor is likely to catalyze price convergence and bring out the unrecognized value of the stock. We reiterate that although all of these are still far from definite as of now, one this is sure: MPI is a greatly undervalued conglomerate with an attractive growth outlook, trading near 60% discount to NAV (1STD below mean) with huge potential upside of 37% to consensus Target Price of P5.46\/share.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On another note, the crystallization of MPI’s value would be a boon to GTCAP (Target Price: P640.00\/share), with MPI accounting for 20% of its NAV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
